Clinical interest in Medical oncology – Genitourinary, Gynaecological and Breast cancers

Dr. Roncolato is a college accredited medical oncologist with a staff specialist appointment at Campbelltown Hospital (South Western Sydney Local Health District). Dr Roncolato has completed a PhD at the University of Sydney for her thesis titled, “Improving prognostication and decision-making about chemotherapy in advanced ovarian cancer”. She has been awarded the American Society of Clinical Oncology Merit award twice and has numerous publications. Dr Roncolato has also completed a Master of Medicine in Clinical Epidemiology (University of Sydney).

Dr Roncolato is the Chair Elect for ANZGOG Cervix, Vulval, Vaginal cancer research group and continues to develop research through NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre, University of Sydney focusing on gynaecological and genitourinary cancer trials and quality of life.  She is the previous chair of the Young Oncologists’ Group of Australia (YOGA). 

Dr Roncolato has an interest in clinical trial development and creating equitable trial access for patients of all backgrounds. She is a Conjoint Senior Lecturer at Western Sydney University and is dedicated to medical oncology trainee, junior medical officer and medical student supervision, education, and welfare.  

Dr. Roncolato treats patients with genitourinary (kidney, bladder, prostate), gynaecological and breast cancers. She spends any spare time with her husband and two children learning to surf, reading, and keeping fit.    

Research interests

Dr. Roncolato’s research focuses on the importance of quality of life in decision-making for patients and their families. She is interested in prognostication and improving health related quality of life. She believes that consideration of enrolment in a suitable clinical trial should be standard of care for patients with cancer in Australia.
