About the centre
This centre in East Melbourne was the first of our radiotherapy centres, established in 1991.
We maintain strong links with Epworth-Freemason’s Hospital, Epworth-Richmond, Mercy Hospital for Women, St. Vincent’s Hospital and the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
There are 2 linear accelerators (treatment machines) on site. Since October 2009, we have SmartArc technology available on our latest Varian linear accelerator which can offer intensitiy-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) via arc therapy.
Brachytherapy at East Melbourne. Low Dose Rate (LDR) brachytherapy using 125-Iodine seeds to treat prostate cancer is performed within the Epworth Freemasons theatres. High Dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy using a 192-Iridiumn source is administered within our HDR Brachytherapy Suite.
For patiets undergoing prostate external beam radiotherapy, treatment accuracy has been enhanced with our gold-seed program.

Parking
Complimentary ample parking on-site is available for patients who are having their radiotherapy treatment. This parking is available on Gotch Lane (entry via Grey Street). Please ask the front reception staff for a parking permit. Otherwise timed or metered parking is on Grey Street, Albert Street and Clarendon Steet.
